In the magazine sector we welcome Koha Magazine, published by Fomana Capital, in online and in hard copy versions, focussing on indigenous business issues. Go www.kohamagazine.co.nz.
Flossie Media Group, publishers of Nzgirl, launched six new websites in July. They are:
- FashionFlossie.com to cover fashion news and views, makeup, eco trends and news, and designer profiles
- LifestyleFlossie.com to cover homes, gardening, craft and design, food and wine, travel, eco living, pets, and weddings
- SocialFlossie.com to cover movies, TV, music, web, books, playlists, and gaming, plus puzzles, gossip, parties, and events. It targets women 18-55yrs
- HealthyFlossie.com to cover happiness and wellbeing, diet, nutrition, health, exercise, fitness, sports, women's health, family health, and recipes
- ProfessionalFlossie.com to cover career, money, business, women in business, technology, and personal finance
- MamaFlossie.com to cover pregnancy and birth, babies, toddlers, kids, teens, women's health, and family matters
3media Group is no more and its non-annual titles have been snapped up by Auckland-based publishing houses.
Long-time publisher Toni Myers formed Mediaweb Publications to house Onfilm, NZ Management, AdMedia/Fastline, FMCG, Foodservice and C-Store. (Source: http://www.presspack.co.nz/?p=655)
RedBow Media took over My Kitchen (previously Essentially Food), and added NZ Apparel and NZ Pharmacy Journal. But it has also launched Panache, a local community with free distribution to homes and businesses in St Heliers, Glendowie and Kohimarama. It's also just launched Restaurant & Catering News, which covers the hospitality industry in NZ — a 6k run tabloid publication.
Marketplace Media, formed by brother and sister team Andrea and Simon Little has picked up NZ Hardware Journal, NZ Outdoor Power Equipment and Wares NZ (Source: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU0906/S00351.htm)
Security Today has been taken over by its editor, Keith Mexsom, and HB Media have taken NZ Marketing Magazine.
