| MEDIANZONLINE MAY BULLETIN |
Suddenly a significant number of press releases sent text-only were received with text stripped out. Various newsdesks and journos throughout the land were mystified by your intriguing headlines but no other words, unless the story was repeated in an attachment.
Enquiries revealed that the victims seemed to be Lotus Notes and Outlook users with the likelihood that upgrades — perhaps automatic upgrades — had triggered their antispyware capability which blanked off your carefully-wrought press releases.
What had triggered this reaction to a text-only message? Techsupport decided it had to be the opt-out clause we impose on stories going through the server (added originally in response to the previous government's antispam legislation). That was the only addition to a standard text-only format.
Interestingly the Latin-American Business Council newsletter editor is asking us today if its regular newsletter includes its new logo. No problem on this Mac, but PC users of Outlook and Lotus may be victims.
Opt-out changes
We've swapped the automatic URL-related opt-out process for a simple statement, which reads
research@mediapeople.co.nz. Please include your opt-out code FhoXC1VHU1xbQ0hHbV1CVV1eWlEbVVgWV0AUDggICnc=: Of course there is right of appeal.>
Group-making tweak
Meanwhile we've done a further tweak to the group-making process. Select one of your groups in My Groups with the intention of either deleting or adding to it. Do either or both. Click Update and the job's done. If you want to retain the original untouched, enter a new name in the Save As Group field and your new group will go into the My Groups list.
Turning off V1
NB: turn-off date for V1 is June 1. If you haven't made the switch contact us.
