Air Safari to descend on Auckland

Sixty aircraft will be flying to Auckland on Sunday 21 March to kick off the Classic Hits Around New Zealand Air Safari.

The Air Safari Event Director John McLean says, "Come on down to your local Aero Club to meet the pilots, check out the aircraft and discover the adventure of flying.

"There'll be a huge range of flying machines on display; from the latest European gyrocopters, to a World War Two flying boat!"

The event is being organised by Flying NZ Airsports Ltd and runs from 2pm to 6.30pm at Ardmore Aerodrome.

Two lucky people will win free flights from Auckland Aero Club. Classic Hits radio will be broadcasting details of the competition in the lead up to the event.

The ten-day safari departs Auckland on 23 March and weaves its way through 17 airfields across the country, finishing in Queenstown on 1 April in time for Warbirds Over Wanaka.

The Air Safari charity partner is the Life Flight Trust. The Trust runs a national air ambulance service, flying more than 1,000 people throughout the country to urgent medical care every year.
