Local Victim Support volunteers will be hitting the streets this Thursday 11th March during their 'Show YOU Care' annual appeal. Collectors have been recruited from local business and community groups according to local District Manager Neil Kirton
"We're delighted by the support the local people have given to help make the appeal a success" says Mr Kirton
Napier Mayor Barbara Arnott is also getting behind the 'Show YOU care' appeal.
"Victim Support gives support to individuals in our community when they need it. Thanks to all the volunteers who provide this valuable 'arm around people'."Said The Mayor.
Victim Support provides a 24/7 to people when they are hurt by crime or trauma. It is a community response to people that helps people find hope, strength and resilience in the face of grief and trauma.
The24/7 service is provided free of charge in communities large and small throughout New Zealand. It is delivered by trained volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise to help people in their local community.
"Our service is delivered completely by volunteers. They're everyday kiwis who do an extraordinary thing. The 'Show YOU Care' appeal is one way local people can support the work we do in the community." Added Mr Kirton
The appeal is running throughout March nationwide. Donations can be made through the website (www.victimsupport.org.nz) or call 090084 28 46 to make an automatic $20 donation.
